Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Portuguese/English Translator to join our dynamic team on a freelance, remote basis. As a Translator, you will be responsible for converting written materials accurately and effectively between Portuguese and English, ensuring linguistic and cultural nuances are preserved. This role is ideal for professionals who are detail-oriented, self-driven, and passionate about delivering high-quality translations that meet client specifications and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate a wide range of documents, including technical manuals, marketing materials, legal texts, and web content from Portuguese to English and vice versa.

  • Ensure translations maintain the original meaning, tone, and context, adapting language to suit target audiences.

  • Proofread and edit translated content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and grammatical correctness.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other freelancers to meet deadlines and project requirements.

  • Conduct research on industry-specific terminology and cultural nuances to maintain translation quality.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and timeliness.

  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all client documents.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in both Portuguese and English, with excellent writing and grammar skills.

  • Proven experience in professional translation, preferably as a freelancer or within a corporate environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex texts accurately.

  • Proficiency in translation tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast) is highly desirable.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional translation experience, preferably in Portuguese/English language pairs.
