About the Team
The Slack Platform team is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to lead development of high-impact, cross-platform experiences. Our team is central to extending Slack's core functionality and fostering a robust ecosystem. We own the in-Slack experience, developer surfaces and architecture for all 3rd-party integrations and apps, platform interactivity as well as Work Objects-a key feature enabling direct, seamless interaction with external apps and data right inside Slack. Our mission is to build the connective tissue that makes two of the world's most widely used platforms feel like one unified system, fundamentally improving how enterprises collaborate.
What you will be doing:
  • You'll brainstorm with Product Managers, Designers, Backend, and Frontend Engineers on your team to conceptualize and build new features for our large (and growing!) user base
  • You'll produce high-quality results by contributing heavily to team projects that have a significant impact on the business
  • You'll actively own team features or systems and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems.
  • You'll work cross-team and cross-functionally to arrive to the best possible outcome for the business
  • You'll assist our skilled support team and operations team in triaging and resolving production issues
  • You'll mentor other engineers and deeply review code
  • You'll improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

What you should have
  • 7+ years of experience writing client-side Typescript, Redux and React
  • Expertise in building complex layouts with CSS and HTML
  • Experience building and debugging complex systems in a team environment
  • Experience with modern browser technologies
  • Strong UX and design sensibilities, and a desire to sweat the small stuff
  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy
  • Self-awareness and a desire to continually improve
  • A related technical degree required
