Schedule: PRN - As needed, 1st and / or 2nd shifts; Saturday and Holiday On-Call Rotation.

Location: 100% remote, train online.
  • Performs accurate transcription of recorded medical dictation into designated report format to support pathologists, pathologists' assistants, and selected laboratory departments.
  • Manages inventory control, general equipment and space maintenance, and receptionist/clerical tasks including word processing, filing, distribution of interoffice memos, mail, scanning, and faxing.
  • Supports cross-departmental partnerships and communication among pathologists, pathologists' assistants, hospital staff, and clients, addressing and reporting any mistakes or errors to the department manager.
  • Provides resolution to customer service issues within established guidelines.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled department and committee meetings as assigned.
  • May prepare specimens for send-out and tumor board.
  • May perform detailed clerical duties including completion of legal requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Responsible for proper function and minor troubleshooting of computer software and hardware used for transcription
Technical skills and aptitudes related to timely and accurate transcription and delivery of pathology reports
Excellent listening skills to accurately translate a variety of dialects in order to document detailed, complicated patient care
Ability to read text and numbers and effectively communicate verbally and in written form in English with patients, staff, and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner utilizing excellent grammar, punctuation, and style skills
Uses an extensive array of professional reference materials as well as the Internet
Ability to learn and apply computer-related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices related to dictation and transcription
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with little or no supervision
Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Field of Study:
in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration

Work Experience:
1+ experience in medical dictation transcription [Preferred]
1+ experience with clinical and anatomical laboratory processes [Preferred]
