Office 365 Engineer

The Senior Office 365 Engineer will be responsible for the overall execution and technical implementation of Office 365.

Responsibilities include management of all Office 365 services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Exchange Online, as well as tenant administration. This role requires Office 365 subject matter expertise across all features and services, with vast experience in email administration. Successful candidates must have hands-on design and implementation experience around the major dependencies of Microsoft 365 solutions.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineer and implement Microsoft Office 365 capabilities as the company expands.
  • Provide tier 3 support and management of the end-to-end Microsoft Office 365 environment.
  • Ensure all production changes comply with lifecycle methodology and risk/change management guidelines.
  • Provide technical mentoring to other team members and actively participate in architecture reviews and strategic development activities.
  • Design, implement, and support secure Microsoft 365 and Azure solutions aligned with business and compliance requirements.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex messaging, identity, and collaboration issues.
  • Partner with application, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated cloud solutions.
  • Contribute to documentation, operational standards, and continuous service improvement initiative.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on experience engineering and administering Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, Outlook, Office, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, Scripting, Active Directory, Archiving Services).
  • Strong experience managing cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), including security groups, resource groups, load balancers, storage, backup & recovery, and networking.
  • Experience configuring Azure resources such as Virtual WAN, Application Gateway, Route Tables, and Azure Policy.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell and C# to create automation and runbooks (e.g., System Center Orchestrator).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, service connections, and self-hosted agents.
  • Experience deploying Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code (ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).
  • Experience configuring private endpoints and private DNS zones at scale.
  • Working knowledge of version control systems, especially Git and GitHub.
  • Experience with Office 365 User, license, and group management.
  • Familiarity with security components specific to Azure Information Protection (AIP), Data Leakage Prevention (DLP), Advanced eDiscovery, and Conditional Access capabilities.
  • Exposure to other infrastructure areas including Active Directory, VMware, Storage, Backup & Recovery, SQL Server, Azure Cloud Services, etc.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills, an analytical problem-solving mindset, delivery focus, and client orientation are all critical for this role.
  • Extensive experience managing enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud environments, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Proven expertise in supporting complex, multi-tenant or global environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement large-scale, complex technology solutions.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
