About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be our first dedicated marketing hire in Japan! As the Marketing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and growing our presence in the Japanese market. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy focused on events, content translation, case studies, and account-based marketing (ABM).

This role requires a hands-on, entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with global teams. You will have the opportunity to shape our marketing efforts from the ground up and make a significant contribution to our success in Japan.

This role will report directly to the Head of Marketing - APAC, based in Sydney, Australia.

As our Regional Marketing Manager for Japan, you will be the driving force behind our local market presence. Success in this role means transitioning from a supportive team player to a high-energy leader who scales our regional footprint through meticulous execution and strategic alignment.

  • Drive Predictable Growth: Launch and scale a sophisticated Japan marketing motion that consistently generates a high-quality pipeline for the sales team.
  • Establish Local Authority: Build Fivetran’s credibility by producing high-impact, local content and hosting premium events that resonate with the local market.
  • Master Cross-Functional Rhythms: Navigate time zones and cultural nuances to establish seamless working cadences with Sales, Alliances, and Global Marketing teams.
  • Execute with Precision: Demonstrate exceptional organisational proficiency by managing the regional budget and project timelines with increasing independence and disciplined prioritization.
  • Cultivate Social Proof: Secure and amplify Japanese customer success stories, turning local wins into powerful proof points for the broader region.

This is a full-time remote position based out of Japan.

  • Marketo, Google Suite, Outreach, Height, Salesforce, Coupa, Ironclad, Salesforce, Looker
  • What You’ll Do
  • Plan and execute a variety of events, including conferences, roundtables, community events and webinars. This includes vendor management (sourcing, procurement), liaising with event organisers, overseeing booth builds, and managing event logistics
  • Oversee the translation and adaptation of marketing materials (website content, brochures, presentations, etc.) for the Japanese market
  • Develop original Japanese content, including blog posts, social media updates, and case studies, showcasing our value proposition and driving engagement
  • Advise on local digital and direct marketing campaigns
  • Source, order, and manage inventory of branded promotional items
  • Work closely with the global brand/design team on asset fulfillment and management
  • Assist in managing the marketing budget for Japan and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives
  • Partner closely with sales and business development teams on enablement of messaging for marketing campaign promotion and follow-up
  • Align with both our Tech and SI Partner ecosystem to forge great Partnerships
  • Skills We’re Looking For
  • 4+ years of experience in marketing, with a strong focus on event management and content creation.
  • Native-level fluency in Japanese and business-level proficiency in English.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of the Japanese business landscape and cultural nuances.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
