If you have the qualities and drive to lead yourself or teams, there are roles ready to cultivate your skills and take you to the next level.<br><br><strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>HGV Class 1 Driver<br><br>Based at Polar Speed Distribution Ltd, Birmingham Hub, Unit 10 the Hub, Nobel Way, Birmingham, B6 7EU<br><br>Shifts are Tuesday to Saturday generally starting at 1am<br><br>Salary: £37,958.38 based on 40 hours per week<br><br>Generally dealing with overloads to depots across England and Wales and also used as a holiday cover driver.<br><br>Polar Speed, a UPS company, is a logistics company and innovative provider of temperature sensitive transportation and pharmaceutical supply chain solutions in the UK.<br><br>Polar Speed has a reputation for quality, compliance, operational and customer facing technology and monitoring solutions in the growing temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical logistics market in the UK.<br><br>The company specialises in active temperature-controlled deliveries to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers and medical care surgeries as well as to end patients which it serves through its homecare business. Its customers include some of the best known pharmaceutical brands in the world.<br><br>As a delivery and collection driver, you’ll make collections and deliveries to GP surgeries, retail pharmacies, wholesalers and hospitals. You will also be required to make deliveries to patients and on occasion assist them with the rotation and return of stock items, for this we are looking for applicants who can demonstrate excellent levels of customer service.<br><br>As a delivery driver multi drop you’ll work a minimum of 40 hours per week and must be flexible and prepared to work additional hours as and when required to meet our service requirements which may be of an urgent medical nature.<br><br>As a delivery and collection driver you may expect to work on average 40-48 hours per week.<br><br>We offer a wide range of benefits including 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays) building to 33 days (including bank holidays) in the sixth full holiday year and a company pension scheme, and UPS Perks At Work scheme.<br><br>Due to the nature of the work we do and for successful applicants, Polar Speed will be required to process enhanced disclosure criminal record checks.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong>Managing the scanning of packages or pallets to your delivery vehicle when applicable.<br><br>Ensuring the safe and secure loading of all consignments to your vehicle using the appropriate equipment.<br><br>Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries using the appropriate equipment.<br><br>Ensuring the vehicle is always kept at the correct temperature.<br><br>Conducting vehicle safety checks as outlined in documentation providing including the refrigeration unit on the vehicle.<br><br>Maintaining the cleanliness of both cab and chambers.<br><br>Reporting all defects as per the defect reporting process.<br><br>Adherence to all legislation governing HGV driving in the UK & IRL.<br><br>Ensuring the drivers card is downloaded upon completion of each shift.<br><br>Always demonstrating a professional and safe driving competency.<br><br>Always be smart and presentable.<br><br>Excellent communication and customer service skills.<br><br>Delivering and collecting pharmaceutical consignments to addresses including GP Surgeries, Retail Pharmacies, Hospitals and Wholesalers.<br><br>Communicating all operational delays or delivery/failures to the line manager as soon as possible.<br><br>Correct completion of EPOD/driver manifest/collection/refusal paperwork.<br><br>Driving as per your planned schedule.<br><br>Additional tasks may be requested by the Line Manager appropriate to the skills and responsibilities of a Class 2 driver.<br><br><strong>Specialised Knowledge<br><br></strong>A minimum of 2 years driving experience.<br><br>Driver certificate of professional competence (CPC) qualification in date.<br><br>Must hold a class 2 C Category driving licence (ideally no more than 6 points).<br><br>Previous experience is advantageous.<br><br>Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise.<br><br>Team player and also able to work on your own
