BI Analyst - Contract Work (Chicago-Based)

Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst for a contract-based role, with a strong preference for professionals based in Chicago. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across departments. Working closely with stakeholders from various business units, you will design, build, and maintain intuitive dashboards and reports that support operational excellence and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze business trends, metrics, and KPIs using large datasets to provide insights and recommendations to internal teams.

  • Design and develop robust BI solutions, dashboards, and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical data solutions.

  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy across all reporting and BI solutions.

  • Provide actionable insights to senior leadership that support strategic planning and performance improvement.

  • Automate data extraction and reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

  • Monitor and optimize BI systems and ensure user adoption across the organization.

  • Document BI processes, best practices, and training materials for end users.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.

  • Strong experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.

  • Excellent data visualization and storytelling skills.

  • Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of database management systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.

Experience

Working Hours

  • This is a remote contract position, but candidates must be based in the Chicago area for occasional in-person meetings or team workshops.

  • Flexible working hours, with a weekly commitment of 30–40 hours, depending on the project phase.
