Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Assistant to join our dynamic HR team remotely. The ideal candidate will support the payroll process by ensuring accurate and timely payroll execution, maintaining employee records, and assisting with compliance and reporting requirements. This role is critical to ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, while adhering to all relevant labor laws and company policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify payroll data including hours worked, overtime, deductions, and bonuses.

  • Maintain and update employee payroll records accurately in the system.

  • Assist in preparing payroll reports and summaries for management review.

  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to resolve payroll discrepancies or issues.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

  • Support payroll audits by preparing necessary documentation and records.

  • Handle employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits in a professional manner.

  • Assist with year-end activities such as tax filings and generating annual payroll statements.

  • Continuously improve payroll processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in payroll administration or as a payroll assistant.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and preferably Portuguese.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

  • Basic accounting knowledge is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in payroll or HR administration.

  • Experience working remotely or in a virtual team environment is desirable.
